September 11th Brotherly Love

“Which of these three, in your opinion, was neighbor to the man who fell in with the robbers?” The answer came “The one who treated him with compassion.”  Words are taken from the Holy Gospel according to Luke.  (more…)

Feast of Brotherly Love

My sermon preached at 7:30am, 9:00am, and 10:30am Holy Mass at St. Stanislaus Cathedral.  Give or take some influence of the Holy Spirit; no one can preach entirely from text.

“Teacher, what must I do to inherit everlasting life?” These words are taken from the Holy Gospel according to Saint Luke. +++ (more…)

13th Sunday Ordinary Time – Year B

As I occasionally do, I am posting the sermon I preached this past Sunday June 28th.  Not that it was groundbreaking or it made people swoon and faint with great faith, but I enjoyed preparing it immensely as it was one of the Gospels that always stuck out as I heard it growing up. (more…)

Easter Sunday 2009 is only 36 or so hours in the history books.  Nothing quite describes the feeling that someone has after experienced the joys and pains of Holy Week.  The ups and downs, chronologically: The happiness of Christ’s entrance into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, the mounting tension, the New Covenant in the Last Supper, his betrayal and arrest, mock trial, scourging, crucifixion, death, burial…and Resurrection.  If one were to attend all the services of Holy Week, quite the picture would be painted on the soul.  I mentioned it in my last post – so I will include it now.  My Easter Sermon that I preached on Sunday.  As usual don’t mind mistakes as I usually type things out simply as guidelines, also, don’t mind the lack of scriptural quotes…they’re there, somewhere. I am posting a sermon I preached a couple of weeks ago, more in the middle than the end of Lent.  I am doing this because someone quoted it to me yesterday so I figure it must have made some sense:

Today, we have walked the Way of the Cross.  We have read and prayed about 14 points in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ’s final hours.  Every once in a while, when I am at Stations, my mind strays a little bit. (more…)

No rhyme or reason why I chose this sermon to post online in my blog other than the fact that it happens to be the first one I wrote out in a few months.  Hope you enjoy, please forgive the puncuation.  I have become quite a fragmented writer ever since I graduated college with my degree in…writing. Sermon – 33A Sunday Ordinary Time

Normally, I wouldn’t publish a sermon online because I very rarely write them out anymore.  I preach off scratch notes because it allows me to look at people rather than paper.  Here is what I preached yesterday, the 2nd to last Sunday before Advent.  If you want to read along, here is a link to the Mass at St. Stanislaus.  (more…)
