After Synod

The Synod is now but ancient history and things are now settling into place.  My boss is now everyone’s boss (Check out this recent live interview)  in the PNCC.  I am awaiting the February arrival of my new boss (I hear he is coming to scope the rectory – to clean my office…or to not clean my office).  (more…)

The Week That Was

Well, that week is over now.  Last week was the perfect example of life in the priesthood.  Sunday was Sunday – 3 Masses total.  Monday had a wake attatched to the evening, Tuesday was a funeral.  Tuesday afternoon, after just a few minute layover, I ventured up to the Poconos for our Central Diocesan Clergy Retreat.  (more…)

It has been awhile…

Hello all – I wanted to drop a quick line on my blog (I have a blog?!) as I make another sorry attempt to have a functioning and interesting channel to my thoughts.  (more…)

Cathedral Craziness

Caroling, Caroling, Caroling

Christmas Caroling is quite the tradition at St. Stanislaus Cathedral.  For four nights out of the first five nights after Christmas Day, the parish United Youth Association (UYA) goes to as many houses as they can around Scranton.  (more…)

Wednesdays take their toll…

I am now much more than 24 hours removed, but I still feel it in my bones.  On Wednesdays during Advent at St. Stanislaus Cathedral, I wake up at a little after 4 in the morning to make sure the church is unlocked and warmed for 5am Rorate Mass.  Yeah, until a couple of years ago, I didn’t know there was a 5am either.  (more…)

Wait, You Couldn’t Receive Communion?

One thing that is nice about being a Polish National Catholic is that you don’t have to worry about one of your higher-ups saying something controversial and getting 15 minutes of fame.  Capitalizing on some of the going-ons of the meeting of U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in Baltimore, a priest in South Carolina decided to make news.  Another slant is seen here, along with a video.
